MTV base, e.tv and Fanta have selected the first two finalists in their national MTV base World Chart Express VJ Search. Fikile Moeti took the title in the first leg of the auditions held Cape Town, and was joined by Xylon Van Eyck, who wowed the judges at the Port Elizabeth auditions. Auditions to find the last two finalists will take place in Johannesburg at The Rooftops, Rosebank Mall, Johannesburg on Saturday, 7 October and the Playhouse in Durban on Sunday, 8 October. Screenings for the first qualified 1 000 candidates will take place from 9:00. The final takes place on 8 November. MTV base World Chart Express will focus on videos burning up the charts in South Africa and around the globe, from music such as kwaito, hip-hop, R'n'B and soul. The first episode of MTV base World Chart Express will profile the four finalists from the Cape Town, Port Elizabeth, Durban and Johannesburg auditions. The finalists will then face-off for the title during the second episode on 8 November where a panel of celebrity judges and viewers voting via SMS will decide their fate. MTV base World Chart Express will provide a window to the South African and global music scene, with each episode also featuring exclusive interviews, latest news and celebrity gossip.
