BBC Entertainment’s hit original commission Come Dine With Me South Africa, sponsored by Pick n Pay and associate sponsors Knorr, gears up for its fifth episode from Johannesburg’s swanky northern suburb, Bryanston.

This week’s four dinner party hosts are out to create the ultimate dining experience to ensure they snare the R10 000 prize. The four fabulous cooks this week include model and law student (well, you’ve got to have something to fall back on) Gregg Hammond, administrator Tarryn Eckstein, cupcake baker and part-time model Michelle Raspel and car salesman Nicholas Hall.

Cosmopolitan South Africa’s sexist man of 2011, Gregg Hammond, is first up to host and is confident his charm and the fact he isn’t afraid of showing some skin will score him high points. Tarryn falls for his tactics and duly delivers. Nick however, is more taken by his host’s cooking skills than his abs while Michelle questions a Hammond family secret recipe.

Second night host Tarryn throws a ‘Breakfast at Tiffanys’ themed party but neglects to let her guests know. Nick and Michelle spend the evening talking relationships, while the host’s elaborate dessert, a ‘Trio of white, milk and dark chocolate mousse’ leaves all three of her guests considerably underwhelmed.

Queen of the cupcakes Michelle is host of the third night’s dinner party. Despite being a professional baker, Michelle serves her guests individual chicken, mushroom and bacon pies made with shop bought puff pastry which leaves a few of her guests with raised eyebrows and lowered expectations.

The final night’s hosting duties fall to man about town Nick. Nick’s strategy for the evening is simple – just keep the booze flowing, and it’s a strategy he sticks to while preparing his menu. The plan backfires somewhat however when Tarryn takes more of a shine to his barmen, scoring them a perfect 10 rather than her host. However, the night ends on a high for one lucky contestant when they scoop the R10 000 prize.
