Fans of the biggest all-time music hits and legendary artists from the 70s, 80s, 90s and early 00s will be able to indulge their love of classic hits from Tuesday, 13 November, when music TV channel VH1 Classic replaces VH1 on the DStv platform.
Targeting mature music lovers, VH1 Classic is the latest channel from Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, the African entertainment powerhouse behind MTV, MTV Base, Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and BET. The channel will be available in Botswana, Malawi, Mozambique, South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
VH1 Classic delivers non-stop music videos all day long, providing access to the most iconic contemporary artists of our time and spotlighting superstar performers such as Abba, Bon Jovi, Duran Duran, George Michael, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Prince, Queen, Whitney Houston and U2.
Key programmes to get fans singing along with their TVs and playing their air guitars include the thrashing basses and thunderous beats of The Rock Show, the big hair and the shoulder pads of We Are the 80s, a tribute to the weird and wacky in Smells Like the 90s and the dancetastic beats of Boogie Wonderland.
Commented Alex Okosi, senior vice president and managing director, Viacom International Media Networks (VIMN) Africa, “VH1 Classic resonates with viewers by taking them on an evocative journey through the music and artists that have formed the soundtrack to their lives.”
Continued Okosi, “Together with MTV Base and MTV, VH1 Classic rounds out our music offering by providing targeted content for mature music fans as well as lovers of classic hits.”
VH1 Classic will be available on Channel 323 on the DStv Premium bouquet, replacing VH1.
