Another addition to the Mzansi Magic Lokshin Bioskop: Series on Tuesday nights at 21:00, the five part series is produced by comedian David Kau, the creator of the Taxi Ride franchise under Disadvantaged Background Productions.

What sets Taxi Ride the series apart from the movies is, “In the movie we were introduced to the characters, but we didn’t know anything about their dynamic backgrounds. In the series we have more time to get to know them better, and we see what their lives entail away from the taxi rank,” says Kau. “To do this, we have a storyline that runs throughout the five episodes in which the two taxi drivers Dlamini (Skhumba Hlophe) and Bhakabhaka (Sifiso Nene) are trying to start an airline,” he adds.

In the Lokshin Bioskop: Series premiere, Dlamini and Bhakabhaka are back and they let viewers in on their big dreams. The audience discovers that Shampoo is more of a character than he let on in the movie. Meanwhile, Mr and Mrs Chuene try to work things out for the sake of their family and marriage.

“My personal highlight while working on this production will have to be witnessing how talented people with no television experience are. These individuals gave the best performances ever. There's definitely no shortage of new characters that people will love and definitely want to see again, with the usual suspects that viewers met in the movie, Shampoo and Elpheous,” concludes Kau.

Taxi Ride begins on Tuesday, 5 February at 21:00 on Mzansi Magic, channel 161 on DStv.
