Open auditions for the show are being held at Bassline in Newtown Johannesburg on Friday, 5 and Saturday, 6 April where Mafokate and his surprise guest judges will be scouting for talented dancers, singers, rappers and musicians who have what it takes to participate in this 13 episode reality show.

From these auditions, twenty five contestants will be selected to enter the 'CAN DO! Academy' for a number of weeks and they will be given a complete musical education through various, vigorous challenges and interactions with industry role models. This includes individual vocal coaching, songwriting lessons, personal development, fitness/dancing classes, image consultation, and workshops with professionals. At the end of each episode finalists will pick their weakest or least favorite contestant that they think must be out voted out of the competition. This, however is only a way to sway the judge’s decision and a means to share their “behind the scene” experiences with the viewer.

This is a serious competition and to make it one must really have what it takes. The winning group will receive R150 000 cash and a record deal from Universal Records.

“The partnership between CAN DO! (Nampak Bevcan) and Arthur Mafokate is an innovative and dynamic one. CAN DO! is the 'scene' created around beverage cans by the cool, fresh, enthusiastic, responsible youth of South Africa who care about the environment and make a difference by making informed packaging choices! CAN DO! is also a positive message and a fast growing South African culture that says “anything is possible if you have a CAN DO! attitude to life” – hence the sponsorship of developing and rewarding new talent and partnering with an individual who has exhibited a CAN DO! attitude his whole life,” said Alex Bouwer, marketing manager for CAN DO!.

The original CAN DO! man, Mafokate is still wowing the crowds after he was discovered in a talent search over twenty years ago. He has since discovered and nurtured talent like Mandoza, Lira, Chomee, Joe Nina, Jeff Maluleke, Speedy and many more. The long-term vision and motivation behind the show U CAN DO IT! is to inspire young people, to encourage them into the music industry as a career choice and to expose both the good and the bad of this complex industry that Arthur knows better than most.
