The committed and dedicated sports commentator, Bheki Letswalo, hails from the dusty rural streets of Phola, Mpumalanga. He completed matric at Mshadza secondary school. He is also a graduate in Journalism and Linguistics at Intec College and is currently busy with a LLB Degree with the University of South Africa.
At a tender young age, he always wanted to become a radio personality and used to listen to Ligwalagwala FM soccer commentary and short stories which made him fall in love with radio.
He joined Ligwalagwala FM in November 2004, inspired by the golden humorous and well-spoken legend, Sibusiso Derrick Mashabane. His passion for radio commenced during the times of the legendary Ronnie Masilela and Koos Radebe of Radio Zulu. “Working at Ligwalagwala FM is a dream come true, I love what I do and I am blessed to be part of the team,” said Letswalo.
He is the very first SABC SiSwati commentator on television with his debut commentary on SABC1 Sport during a Chippa United and Golden Arrows game which was hosted in Cape Town. This proved to be a milestone in his career. “It was a career growth indeed because radio commentary and television commentary differ vastly, the audience is different, the style is different and it was a step towards the right direction,” explained Letswalo.
When asked about how he deals with his fans, he chuckles, "I am the most fortunate person at this stage because of the way people react towards me and ensure that I am always humble and play a low profile."
