Driskill-Smith is a highly decorated and well-travelled performer who is currently sub-organist at Christ Church in Oxford, where he was previously organ scholar. He plays for the daily services in the cathedral and for the choir’s many concerts, recordings, broadcasts and tours under the direction of Stephen Darlington. He also teaches the organ at the Royal Academy of Music and is a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Musicians.
His concerts at St George’s will include pieces for organ and trumpet, on which he will be accompanied by Jevon O’Donovan, one of South Africa’s most talented and versatile trumpeters who has performed in genres ranging from punk rock and gospel to classical music.
He will be playing South African composer Richard Pantcheff’s work Suite on South African Folk Tunes with Driskill-Smith during the concerts, as well as Handel’s Suite in D major for Trumpet and Organ.
Driskill-Smith will be performing the popular and much-loved
Toccata and
Fugue by Bach, as well as other beautiful organ pieces.
