He worked on Sunday World and the defunct Nova newspaper before joining Daily Sun in 2006, where he has been news editor, senior
assistant editor, and acting editor.

He was born in Reagile, Koster in North West and is married with two sons. Moalusi holds a BA (Hons) in Journalism and Media Studies from Wits University.

Meanwhile, Prince Chauke has been appointed at the editor of the Sunday Sun, promoted from news editor, a position that he has held since 2009. Chauke was born in Mamelodi, east of Tshwane, and studied law at the University of Durban Westville.

In his own words, he “got bored” and pursued a career in tabloid journalism. In 2008 and 2009, Chauke was awarded the Mondi Shanduka Newspaper Award in the popular journalism category. He has also been a judge at the South African Music Awards.

Daily Sun and Sunday Sun publisher Jeremy ‘Ntjebe’ Gordin said he was delighted about both appointments, which were confirmed on Friday, 17 October by the Media24 board.

“Both newspapers are in excellent hands, Reggy is an astute editor in terms of the Daily Sun’s readers and local politics, and Prince is one of the best tabloid journalists in the land,” says Gordin.

“The Daily Sun has a readership of over 5.3 million according to the latest All Media Products Survey (AMPS) figures. Moalusi and Chauke have proven that they are in tune with their readers, providing the correct content, and building up trust and loyalty. Advertisers can rest assured that the reach of the newspaper and the influence and impact that it has amongst readers is being guided by the most skilled and capable leaders of the editorial team,” says Tania Barzu, head of Trade Marketing and Strategy at Ads24.
