In part 2, the team speaks to the Minister of Justice about why some of the victims’ families were not consulted prior to De Kock’s release. They find out if the Justice Department intends to prosecute perpetrators of apartheid era crimes who applied for and were denied amnesty at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC).  

During De Kock’s criminal trial, which took place from 1994 to 1996, and his testimony at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in 1998, he and his Vlakplaas colleagues confessed to planning and executing several murders under orders from their superiors. Of the 7116 people who applied for amnesty, 5143 were denied yet none of these people have been tried.
