Something different today... while Izak Davel has been setting the small screen alight as the popular “Scab” in Egoli, he has been hard at work behind the scenes fulfilling another dream – and one where the public can see him sizzling in a whole new light!

He has been in the recording studio over the last month recording his Debut CD “Ken Jy My?” and the good news is that the album is now due for release at the end of May 2008, under the newly established Globo Music International Label.

This dynamic 24 year old singer, dancer and actor is undoubtedly one of the most instantly recognizable young entertainers in our industry at the moment, with television audiences loving his portrayal of the gutsy “Scab” in Egoli and fans following his every move. The South African public also voted him recently as “the hottest in South Africa” on Heat Magazine’s Top 100; with Izak being the top South African on their list, and placed 4th overall, against icons including Wentworth Miller and the like!

Yes, life is good for Izak Davel at the moment!

Izak was thrilled and honoured when Werner Beukes and Stephen Stewart of Globo Music International approached him earlier in the year to see whether he would be interested in being signed as the first artist to record under the Globo banner. Says Stephen, Marketing Manager of Globo Music International “We wanted our new record label to enter the music industry with a bang, and who better than such a high profile artist like Izak to put us on the map?”

Stephen continued “But it was more than that that made us interested in Izak – when chatting to him, we realized that he shared the same passion and energy for the music industry as we do. Izak is showing an incredible maturity in exploring this new career path and we look forward to the outcome!”

Izak has loved this new challenge. “I am so, so excited to see – and hear - the end product! This was all so new for me, but I loved the process and now can’t wait to get out there and perform the songs live on stage. I am so thankful to Werner and Stephen for their support and guidance and hope my TV fans will enjoy this new side to me! See you all at my gigs!” says Izak.

This 14-track Afrikaans album, entitled “Ken Jy My?” was produced by producer/songwriter whiz, Werner Beukes, partner of Globo Music International.
Says Werner “The South African public won’t know what’s hit them when they hear Izak’s vocals singing the catchy tunes. He’s going to be, I believe, the Afrikaans version of Enrique Iglesias. Ladies – be ready!”

The album is 100% “trots Afrikaans” and includes a number of catchy tunes, including “Is Jy In?” written by the prolific songwriter, Johan Vorster; “Jy’s my DJ” and the title track “Ken Jy My?”

This album forms part of a 3-year, 3 album contract Izak has signed with Globo Music International, and will be available in stores nationwide from the end of May, 2008.

Izak will soon be seen on a number of local stages performing the songs from the album, including being a Guest Artist at the upcoming popular Jacaranda 94.2 Deuriemikke Karnival, in association with Vodacom Bulls and KykNET at Loftus Versveld on Wednesday, 30th April 2008. Izak will be sharing the stage with local icons including Eden, Kurt Darren, Juanita Du Plessis, Steve Hofmeyer, Bok Van Blerk, Laurika Rauch and others.

Ticket prices range from R110 – R180 and can be purchased through Computicket. Izak hopes to see many of his supporters there!
