Trevor Ormerod, GM group sales and marketing at Times Media, says the depth of talent that resides in the recruitment sector is one that deserves acknowledgement. “Individuals in this field are under tremendous pressure to deliver high-quality candidates to businesses in SA. Their clients demand a high level of professionalism and commitment in support of their human resource requirements. The role of recruitment professionals in helping businesses grow with the best calibre employees needs to be celebrated.”

This year’s individual nominees, as well as entries in the Print Advertising categories, were adjudicated by a panel of recruitment industry leaders including Natalie Singer, chief operating officer of APSO; Alan Hosking, executive editor of HR Future; Welile Mabaso, professional designation advisor of IPM; Nikki Munsie, business director of IAS; and Ross Mengel, managing director of DMA People.

The panel agreed that an effective recruitment advertisement needs to show a clear layout that is easy to read and has an eye-catching headline. The advertisement should mirror the professional image of the company and position advertised, and have the ability to speak directly to the appropriate target market. Importantly, it should be free from mixed metaphors or spelling errors.
