The clinic says that being the only animal clinic and shelter, the reality is that most animals would not be able to receive health care without this clinic's services as private vets are too expensive for community pet owners to afford.

"We are honoured and proud to have served the community for so long, and we want to thank all our donors and supporters for standing with us throughout the years to make this possible," says Marcelle du Plessis, Fundraising and Communications Executive of the clinic.

According to the clinic, the dog show aims to instill pride in pet guardians within the community by offering them the chance to parade their beloved dogs. Categories will include:

  • Smallest dog
  • Biggest dog
  • Cutest trick
  • Best dressed dog and owner
  • Best look alike
  • Cutest dog
  • Most unusual and unique dog
  • Shiniest coat, and
  • Best-behaved dog.

"We would love to invite all pet guardians, from within and outside of the community, to come join in the fun and celebrate with us by showing off your wonderful dog," says du Plessis.

In addition to the dog show, the event will feature prizes for category winners and a special educational session for children, complete with colouring books that highlight the importance of the humane treatment of pets, the clinic says.

The clinic will also be launching its 2025 calendar in honour of the birthday. This is for sale for R150 and can be ordered by emailing info@mdzananda.co.za.

To enter, dogs must be sterilised, vaccinated and on a lead, the clinic concludes.
