Teams competed through rounds of sports trivia, surrounded by the presence of people like Graeme Smith, Lungi Ngidi, Siphiwe Tshabalala, Mark Williams and Herschelle Gibbs, says Mscsports.

The evening saw a significant milestone as a team from Kappa emerged victorious for the first time, marking a new chapter in the quiz's 20-plus-year history, adds the agency.

According to Mscsports, the highlight of the night was the celebrity auction, where sporting legends took the spotlight:

  • Siphiwe Tshabalala auctioned for R16 000
  • Morné Steyn auctioned for R32 000, and
  • Graeme Smith auctioned for R44 000.

According to the agency, exclusive memorabilia also garnered substantial bids:

  • The Argentina World Cup 2022 Winning Jersey sold for R42 000
  • The Big Three Tennis Legends Signed Photo (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic) went for R45 000, and
  • The crown jewel, the Springbok World Cup 2023 Signed Jersey, closed at an astounding R65 000.

The auction proceeds contributed to a total fundraising effort of over R600 000, which will support vital community projects and local charities, adds the agency.

Mscsports Co-Founder, Barney Girnun, says, "The Mscsports Quiz is now over 20 years old, and still as popular as ever, as we saw last night with a very full room. It was exciting to have some new winners from Kappa, and a lot of fun was had by everybody. We welcomed so many sporting personalities like Herschelle Gibbs, Graeme Smith, Lungi Ngidi and Siphiwe Tshabalala. We raised a lot of money for great local charities, and we cannot wait for next year again — it was such a fantastic event."

The 'Go for the Gold' theme embodied the evening's spirit of striving for excellence and unity. With attendees enjoying the high energy atmosphere, the event continued its legacy as a premier night of sports knowledge, networking and giving back to the community, says Mscsports.

Mscsports concludes by extending its heartfelt thanks to all participants, sponsors and contributors who made the evening a resounding success. Planning for the 2025 edition is already underway, promising another exceptional event.
