Originally established as a refuge for orphaned children, Epworth says that it has grown into an essential support system for young people facing severe hardships, including neglect, abuse and family loss.

This year's anniversary is not only a celebration of Epworth's commitment to uplifting children in crisis but also an urgent appeal to Corporate South Africa. Without new corporate partnerships and urgent financial aid, Epworth says that it will be forced to close, leaving many children without the critical care and the stability they depend on. Epworth needs the financial support of Corporate South Africa to secure its future and continue its essential work in the community.

"Epworth has always been about giving children the tools to rewrite their stories," says Ron Robertson, Chairperson of the Epworth Children’s Village Board. "Over the years, we have witnessed the remarkable impact of collective generosity — from the communities we serve to the partners who believe in our mission. Now, we are appealing to Corporate South Africa to lend financial aid to ensure these stories of hope continue."

Epworth says that its closure would have a devastating impact on the lives of over 80 children who rely on its resources. This pressing need presents an opportunity for companies to show their commitment to societal stability. By partnering with the home, corporate entities not only address an urgent need but also contribute to building a foundation for future generations.

The organisation says that children who receive quality care and educational support have a far greater chance of growing into capable, contributing members of society. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives that support welfare programmes for children like Epworth make a tangible difference, creating lasting societal benefits and strengthening the values of South African businesses.

"Partnerships with organisations like Epworth Children's Village are essential for building a more resilient, compassionate society," says Karen Olivier, Business Manager at Waco Modular. "By supporting Epworth, Corporate South Africa is investing in the lives of children who will one day contribute to our communities, workforce, and economy."

Corporate involvement in CSR initiatives not only addresses immediate social challenges but also fosters goodwill, enhances brand loyalty and demonstrates a commitment to ethical practices. Companies that actively participate in community upliftment strengthen their reputations among consumers and employees alike. By supporting Epworth, corporates contribute to the growth of future leaders, skilled workers and socially responsible citizens, says the organisation.

"As we commemorate this significant milestone, Corporate South Africa is urged to partner with us in ensuring that Epworth Children's Village continues to be a sanctuary for vulnerable children," Robertson concludes.
