The handover marks a significant step in Waco International's ongoing commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and reflects its dedication to making a meaningful difference in the lives of South Africa's children, says Waco International.

The donation comes at a crucial time for Epworth Children's Home, which has faced significant financial challenges over the past year. Caring for approximately 50 children, the home offers a haven of stability and support. The new vehicle will address a critical operational need, ensuring safe and reliable transportation for the children to attend school and participate in daily activities, Waco International adds.

"Our contribution is about more than just providing a vehicle — it's about empowering Epworth to continue its vital work," says Stephen Goodburn, CEO of Waco International. "As a company, we are committed to uplifting communities where we operate. This donation reflects our focus on protecting and supporting children, who are among society's most vulnerable."

Epworth faced challenges with outdated and unreliable vehicles, which frequently broke down and disrupted the children's routines. The donation offers a practical solution, ensuring consistent access to education and other essential services. Beyond the vehicle, Waco International says that it also supports the home with financial management assistance, food supplies and donor outreach strategies, helping to ensure the long-term sustainability of Epworth's operations.

"When selecting CSR initiatives, we prioritise efforts where our support can have the greatest impact," adds Goodburn. "Epworth's need for reliable transportation was clear, and we are proud to help address it."

"This is truly transformative for us, ensuring our children have safe passage to school and the opportunity to engage in activities essential for their development and growth. Waco International's generosity transcends mere transportation; it is a profound investment in the future of our children. We are deeply grateful for their steadfast support," says Ron Robertson, Chairman of the Epworth Children's Village Board.

"This donation embodies our values in action," Goodburn says. "It's not about external recognition but about demonstrating the tangible impact of our efforts. We hope this inspires others to contribute where they can."

Goodburn adds that corporate involvement in CSR is more crucial than ever in South Africa, where poverty and unemployment remain significant challenges. He encouraged other companies to step up and support communities, highlighting the collective responsibility of businesses to create a better future.

"Aligning resources with a clear purpose can achieve extraordinary results," says Goodburn. "This vehicle is a testament to the power of focused, meaningful contributions."

Waco International's CSR strategy extends far beyond once-off donations. Across its 120 South African branches, the company invests in projects designed to create sustainable impact, Waco International adds.

"Our goal is to support organisations in achieving sustainable growth over time," Goodburn says. "This ensures our contributions create lasting change and a foundation for future success."

Waco International concludes that its partnership with Epworth Children's Home is a powerful demonstration of how CSR initiatives can transform lives, proving that business success and community upliftment can go hand in hand.
