Re.Bag.Re.Use says that this recognition reflects the power of purpose-led storytelling.

Re.Bag.Re.Use is a Hout Bay-based social enterprise initiative that transforms discarded plastic into handcrafted bags and accessories — each one made with care, creativity and a commitment to sustainability. Beyond reducing waste, the initiative creates income opportunities for women in under-resourced communities, using creativity to fuel both economic upliftment and environmental impact.

Re.Bag.Re.Use says this is its third international accolade — a moment of pride not just for its team, but for every person who has crocheted, cut, or carried a Re.Bag.Re.Use creation. Being named a finalist in the 2025 SABRE Awards Africa affirms the initiative's growing impact across borders.

"It's an incredible honour to see our community-driven story celebrated alongside some of Africa's most creative and impactful campaigns," says Regine le Roux, Founder of Re.Bag.Re.Use. "This nomination belongs to every team member who's turned plastic waste into purpose — and it's proof that sustainability and storytelling go hand in hand."

Every Re.Bag.Re.Use product sold not only supports a cutter and a crocheter, but also gives back — a percentage of each sale is donated to the Neighbourhood Old Age Home (NOAH) and the SPCA, says the organisation.

Re.Bag.Re.Use concludes that being recognised on a continental stage reaffirms the value of its mission: to stitch together a more sustainable and socially conscious future, one bag at a time.
