Tyger Valley shopping centre, a cornerstone of Cape Town's retail landscape, has celebrated its 40th birthday by paying it forward to its shoppers in the best way possible: by extending its trading hours.
Visitors can now enjoy the centre from 9:00 to 20:00 from Monday to Saturday, and from 9:00 to 17:00 on Sundays and public holidays. This change aims to offer more flexibility for families, professionals and visitors to experience all that the mall has to offer, says Tyger Valley.
A Hub of Shopping, Leisure and Lifestyle
Located just 20 minutes from Cape Town's CBD and moments away from the Winelands, Tyger Valley has aimed to establish itself as the leading regional shopping destination in the Northern Suburbs, winning numerous awards over the years. With approximately 90 000 m² of retail and leisure space, the centre aims to combine convenience with variety, offering more than 220 stores and facilities, says the centre.
Tyger Valley aims to be not only a popular place to shop, but a space where people connect, unwind and experience memorable moments. The three-level centre brings together a range of restaurants and coffee shops, a full banking mall, medical and dental facilities and a 10-cinema Ster-Kinekor multiplex. Additionally, its entertainment attractions also include live performances at the Barnyard Theatre, tchallenges at ESC Room and racing at Extreme Go-Karting, adds the centre.
The dining options are equally diverse, with everything from Doppio Zero to Wimpy and coffee shops throughout the mall. Tyger Valley is also home to facilities that make it more than a retail destination, including a public library, a New Life Church and essential services such as the Department of Home Affairs and travel agencies, says the centre.
Retailers With a Distinctive Edge
Tyger Valley aims to set itself apart with its retail mix, including several stores that have features and experiences unavailable elsewhere, says the centre.
Van Deijl Jewelers, rooted in horological and jewelry craftsmanship since the 1960s, houses a flagship store with a dedicated Rolex showroom and bespoke design capabilities. Curve Gear, born out of South African engineering, brings a blend of workwear and everyday apparel with local roots. Cape Union Mart, a household name in outdoor retail, offers a comprehensive range of adventure gear and a commitment to sustainability through its locally manufactured K-Way brand, adds the centre.
Burnt, a South African activewear brand, aims to merge performance with fashion, offering stylish and functional ranges. Its store at Tyger Valley forms part of a curated national retail network that offers its rewards programme. FOM (Freedom of Movement) aims to reflect South African craftsmanship through its range of leather goods, apparel, footwear and accessories, blending style with local heritage, says the centre.
Versus Socks, The FIX, Poetry and Lira and Fynn all contribute to Tyger Valley's aim of being a hub for distinctive style. The FIX embraces youth fashion trends while promoting inclusivity and sustainability. Poetry offers curated fashion and homeware and Lira and Fynn provides a boutique atmosphere, adds the centre.
The recently renovated Woolworths concept store aims to add to the uniqueness of the centre, offering complimentary tailoring, bra fitting services and denim personalisation, alongside a refreshed layout that integrates the Country Road, Trenery and Witchery ranges, says the centre.
A Destination that Continues to Evolve
For four decades, Tyger Valley has remained a part of Cape Town’s shopping and leisure landscape. Its ability to balance trusted household names with new, locally rooted and globally inspired brands aims to ensure that it continues to evolve with its community, says the centre.
By extending its trading hours, Tyger Valley aims to open the door wider for visitors to experience its mix of retail, dining and entertainment with more convenience and ease. The centre hopes to remain as much a destination for daily essentials as it is for moments of leisure and discovery, a place where shopping and lifestyle meet under one roof, concludes the centre.
