In a significant effort to provide blood products to numerous patients in need including terminally ill, women who had complications at childbirth, road accidents, scheduled operations, pediatric cases, etc, total of 36 volunteers donated out of 49 who presented to donate, says The World Mission Society Church of God.
Marvin Ndlovu, Donor Recruiter at SANBS, thanked the church volunteers who donate blood amid the busy December period. "Thank you so much for your constant assistance, especial;ly during the busy December period when we need a lot of blood but there's few donors due to the busy season," says Ndlovu.
Maliviwe Diko, Youth Leader at the Johannesburg church, says all the voluntary activities are all about giving love with the love of a mother. "We carry out a lot of volunteer activities, and all these acts are about giving love with the heart of Mother. This stems directly from our ideologies of believing in God the Father and God the Mother according to the teachings of the Bible, and sharing the love of Christ through the love of the Passover," says Diko.
Tatenda Faith Kenyans, who is a university student and member of the organisation also emphasises importance of blood donation amid the ever-changing climate and disasters, and the shortage in blood donors. "You can save up to 3 lives just by donating a pint of blood. And in South Africa, where there is a growing shortage of blood donations, we can take into account, poor weather conditions, natural disasters, taking place, colds and flus especially when seasons change, we can see that there is a shortage or a drop in people actually donating blood. So every one of us is valuable in partaking in donating blood," says Kenyans.
The blood drive also raises awareness to the importance of voluntary blood donation and confirmed the organisation's commitment to continue to give healthy blood in partnership with SANBS and other entities to benefit all who need blood, concludes The World Mission Society Church of God.
