The Honorary Lifetime Achievement Award for dedication to Gender Empowerment was given to Joyce Piliso-Seroke.
Ms. Piliso-Seroke was the Chairperson of the Commission on Gender and Equality. Commissioner Piliso-Seroke was National Secretary of the World Affiliated Y W C A, specialising in Leadership Development and Advocacy. She was appointed in 1995 by the Minister of Public Enterprises to the ESKOM Council and she still is a member.
Furthermore, she is a Board Member of Women's Development Foundation and serves in the National Executive of READ. She was appointed Committee member of the Human Rights Violation Committee of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission from March 1996 - June 1998. Unfortunately Ms Piliso-Seroke was unable to attend the event and the award was accepted by Dr. Brigalia Bam on her behalf.
