media update’s Talisa Jansen van Rensburg takes a look at the best times to post during the COVID-19 crisis.

Social media is in a constant state of change, and thanks to the current pandemic, more people are spending a significant amount of time on social platforms. This gives brands a huge opportunity to connect and communicate with them more often.

Did you hear that, brands? Learning what the best times to post content online are will allow your brand to receive the best engagement.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at what the new best times to post are:

Facebook

Since most people are working remotely during the current lockdown, they have an ‘always on’ mentality and might be spending more time working early in the morning until late afternoon. This also means that they are less likely to take time off than what they would have at the office, as they’re always at home.

According to Social Media Today, the new best time to post on Facebook is between “Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 11am.” Engagement rates also peak at around 11am. So brands need to look at adjusting their social media strategies and focus on posting content at those times.

Instagram

SimilarWeb found that Instagram users spend an average of 53 minutes on the platform daily (that is almost an entire hour!). This means that there are a lot of opportunities for brands to receive engagement on their posts. Although people spend a lot of time on this platform, that doesn’t mean that you can post at just any time of day.

The new best time to post, according to Social Media Today, is on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10am. One would think that people would want content on weekends too, but it was also found that any posts that go out on Sundays actually receive the lowest engagement, so take note!

Twitter

Wednesdays and Fridays are Twitter's best-performing days. So the best times to post are “Wednesday at 9 a.m. and Friday at 9 a.m,” according to Impact.

The reason why the times are remaining more or less the same is because the platform is a fast and effective way for users to receive updates regardings the latest news. Interestingly enough, Social Media Today also found that Twitter’s worst performing day is on a Saturday (guess people need a break from the news on a Saturday).

LinkedIn

LinkedIn has slowly been gaining traction over the past couple of years, and has gone from being a place for job seekers and recruiters to a place where people can connect and discuss all the ongoings within the industries they’re in, and more.

And with more people working remotely, it has become vital to stay connected with everyone. This is especially important for corporations, as a loss of connectedness might mean missed opportunities for their business during this time.

The normal times have not changed too much, and “the current best times to post on LinkedIn is on Wednesday between 9am and 10am, and at 12pm,” according to JDSUPRA. This indicates that LinkedIn is a great platform to focus your brand on, because people are so active — and they mean business.
